East to the Roman Necropolis the remains of a Roman road Aquilea–Emona–Celeia–Poetovio were found. The road, altogether 9 metres wide, connected the ancient town of Aquilea (now Italy) with Slovene towns of Ljubljana, Celje and Ptuj. Along the 300 metres of the preserved road, outlines of graves and tombs can still be seen in Šempeter. The Roman road is a five-minute walk away from the archaeological site Roman Necropolis.
